Frequently Asked Questions

How long does this process take?

Most commissions take six to nine months from the first interview to delivery of the finished editions. Each project is tailored, so timelines vary depending on the scope and depth of the narrative.

Do you travel to me?

Yes, as most clients value the privacy and presence of in-person work. The first and most substantial interview is conducted in person, at your convenience and a location of your choosing. Travel is included in the flat fee. Follow-up remote sessions (via phone or Zoom) are arranged as the memoir takes shape.

Can family members be interviewed as well?

Absolutely. Many clients choose to include spouses, children, or longtime colleagues who might provide additional perspectives. These contributions are woven seamlessly into the narrative. The inverse is also true. If you do not wish to disclose the project to anyone, Heirloom Editions will honor your privacy.

How many copies will I receive?

A standard commission includes a limited run of 20 archival-quality hardcovers, customized to your preferences. Additional copies or special bindings (such as leather or slipcased editions) can be arranged upon request.

Will the book be published publicly?

No. All commissions are private heirloom editions. The books are created exclusively for your family and chosen recipients. They are not distributed to the public or available for sale. If you would like to make the work public via self-publishing, we can arrange this by request.

What if I want to include sensitive material?

Every project is conducted with complete discretion. We collaborate with you to determine tone, content, and boundaries, ensuring the final manuscript reflects your vision while honoring your story in as much detail as you desire.

Why is the fee $150,000?

Unlike services that produce lightly edited transcripts, Heirloom Editions delivers a 50,000-word manuscript shaped by a New York Times and USA Today bestselling ghostwriter. The process is immersive, literary, and entirely bespoke—an investment in a book that will last generations.
